Presets
Custom duration
The timer counts down against your device clock, so it stays exact even if the tab is in the background or the screen has been off. Presets cover the common durations from 30 seconds to an hour, and the custom fields accept anything up to 99 hours.
Need to count up instead? Every timer page links straight to the stopwatch, and the pomodoro page combines both in fixed focus and break cycles.
How to set the timer
Choose a duration
Tap a preset such as 5, 10 or 30 minutes, or type hours, minutes and seconds in the custom fields.
Start it
Press Start. The remaining time counts down and the progress ring shows how much is left.
Pause, add a minute or reset
Pause freezes the countdown, the plus button adds a minute mid-run, and Reset returns to the chosen duration.
Timer features
Accurate to the millisecond
Remaining time is calculated from timestamps, so a throttled tab or a sleeping device cannot make the timer lose seconds.
Presets and custom times
Common durations are one tap away and the custom fields accept any duration up to 99 hours.
Visible when it ends
When the countdown reaches zero the display changes clearly, and the page title shows the state so you spot it from another tab.
Add time without restarting
The +1 minute button extends a running timer instead of forcing you to start over.

Timer questions
What is a timer?
A timer counts down a fixed duration you choose — for example 10 minutes — then alerts you when time is up. Unlike a stopwatch, which counts up, a timer tells you how much time is left.
How do I set a timer?
Pick a preset on this page or enter hours, minutes and seconds in the custom fields, then press Start. You can pause, resume, add a minute or reset at any time.
How does an online timer work?
The remaining time is computed from timestamps: when you start, the timer records the finish moment and subtracts the current time on every repaint. That keeps it accurate in background tabs and during screen lock.
How accurate is an online timer?
It is accurate to the second for everyday use — study, cooking, workouts and breaks. Because it uses wall-clock timestamps, throttled tabs and device sleep cannot make it lose time.
Can I pause and resume a timer?
Yes. Press Pause to freeze the remaining time and Start to continue from exactly where you stopped. Reset returns to the original duration.
How much time is left on my timer?
The large display shows the remaining time, and the status line underneath spells it out in words. The progress bar shows how far through the duration you are.
Can I use an online timer on my phone?
Yes — it works on iPhone and Android in any modern browser, with touch-friendly controls and an adaptive display.
Can I use an online timer without downloading an app?
Yes. This timer runs entirely in your browser with nothing to install, and it keeps working offline after your first visit.
How do I set a timer on iPhone?
Open this page in Safari, choose a preset or enter a custom duration, and press Start. For hands-free alerts, keep the tab open and volume on.
What can I use an online timer for?
Study sessions, focused work, cooking, exercise intervals, meditation, breaks, games and classroom activities — anywhere you need a reliable countdown.
